MOSTAR, 6 July (Hina/Habena) - The European Union ombudsman in
Mostar, Constantin Zepos, today publicized his decision on election
irregularities at the polling station in Bonn during the local
elections which were held last Sunday. Zepos said he partially
accepted the objection by the list 'For a United Mostar' regarding
the annulment of election results at the polling station in Bonn, a
statement from the EU Administration said today. #L#
The decision by the City Election Commission was annulled by
the ombudsman, who said that '26 additional ballots counted in Bonn
did not and could not considerably affect the legality of the
elections'. The City Election Commission should publicize the final
election results of the municipal elections held on 30 June in line
with the decision of the EU ombudsman.
The distribution of additional ballots clearly showed that
this irregularity should be ascribed to a mistake made by the
election committee in the election procedure, rather than to
fraudulence, the statement said. The result of all analyses was the
conclusion that there had not been any 'double voting' in Bonn,
Zepos said.
Zepos also refused the complaint by the Croatian Party of
Rights and the head of the party's list, Marko Bozic, who asked
that the elections in the municipality South be annulled, because
there had been a misprint in his name.
