ZAGREB, March 29 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives on Friday refused to include on its agenda the
opposition representatives' proposal for an amendment on the Local
Self-Government and Zagreb Act. #L#
A number of opposition representatives proposed the abolition
of the Act's regulations concerning the president's confirmation of
the mayor.
Social Democrat Party (SDP)'s Zdravko Tomac said that even
though five months had passed since the Zagreb elections, the
problem of mayor was still not solved. Without necessary
amendments, new elections would not solve it either, Tomac said.
The session continued with the discussion on Ivan Gabelica's
proposed amendments on an Act on judges' and other judicial
officials' salaries, which the Government refused.
