MANIFESTO TO CITIZENS OF ZAGREB BY SEVEN OPPOSITION PARTIES

ZAGREB, March 6 (Hina) - The Association of Seven Parties called on Zagreb City councilmen to "reject the mayor and county prefect appointed by the President," in a Manifesto to the citizens of Zagreb, released today. The Association includes the Croatian Social Liberal Party, the Social Democratic Party, the Croatian Peasants' Party, the Croatian National Party, the Social Democratic Action of Croatia, the Croatian Independent Democrats and the Croatian Party of Rights 1961. "We are not rejecting the person appointed by the President because we are questioning her professional or other capacities. The issue is that the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) does not have a majority entitling it to appoint the mayor of the city of Zagreb or the prefect of the county," the Manifesto said. The Manifesto stressed that "nobody had the right to accept any solution bar one that was based on a 64-percent majority."
