Statements by Opposition leaders still did not mean that the
Zagreb City Assembly would refuse to confirm the appointment of Mrs
Matulovic-Dropulic and one should first wait for her appointment to
pass the assembly procedure, Sanader said, adding that according to
the Constitution, President Tudjman had to secure the functioning
of the executive authority in Zagreb.
'After President Tudjman called on the Opposition to cooperate
during last weekend's first session of the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) National Committee and after he demonstrated readiness
to cooperate by naming two deputy county prefects from Opposition
parties, the Opposition still does not show the smallest sign of
will to cooperate', Sanader said.
