Thursday received the deputy to the EU high representative for
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Michael Steiner, a statement from the

The talks discussed concrete measures in the implementation of
the Washington and Dayton peace accords, as well as Rome and Geneva
agreements on breathing life into the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
Tudjman advocated a speedy establishment of cantonal and
municipal authorities, which is a precondition for the Federation
to function effectively.
The participants in the talks expressed their satisfaction
with successful talks about the establishment of authorities in the
Neretva Canton.
Further steps in the process of establishing the federation
were agreed: recognizing the Bosnian Federation's emblem and flag,
establishing an effective customs and monetary system, functioning
of the joint police and organizing a joint armed force.
Tudjman stressed that concrete measures for implementing the
agreements on the field would contribute to an effective
development of the Federation, creating a positive atmosphere.
Also present at the talks were the head of the Croatian
President's Office, Ivo Sanader, the President's Advisor on foreign
affairs, Zeljko Matic, and the deputy Foreign Minister, Ivan
Simonovic.
