ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - The European Parliament last Thursday passed a Resolution on the situation in former Yugoslavia. The official text of the Resolution reached Hina this afternoon.
ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - The European Parliament last Thursday
passed a Resolution on the situation in former Yugoslavia. The
official text of the Resolution reached Hina this afternoon. #L#
The 27-point Resolution reviews in detail the position of
refugees and displaced persons, the freedom of the media,
particularly in Yugoslavia, the situation in Croatia and the
nomination of the Zagreb Mayor.
The resolution "calls on President Tudjman and the Government
of Croatia to accept fully the outcome of democratic elections and
to end the coninuing blocking of teh nomination of a democratically
elected Mayor of Zagreb."
"The relationship between the European Union and Corat can
only be further strengthened if the government of Croatia and the
President show the necessary respect for democracy in their
country," the Resolution says.
The Resolution calls on the "European Commission and the
Council of Europe to make the necessary funds available under the
PHARE democracy programme for the full establishment and
strengthening of democratic structures in the Republic of Croatia."
