President Tudjman presented Mrs Pack with the Order of Prince
Trpimir with the Croatian Morning Star for her exceptional
contribution to the independence, integrity and international
reputation of the Republic of Croatia as well as to its
establishment and development of its relations with other
countries.
President Tudjman said he was especially pleased to be able
to decorate personally Mrs Pack for all that she had done for
Croatia's recognition and its position among Western European
countries. Croatia needed friends like Mrs Pack, President Tudjman
added.
Doris Pack thanked President Tudjman for the honour on her own
behalf, but also on the behalf of all her associates in the
Institute which helped create numerous Croatian laws, out of which
even 16 had been accepted by the Croatian Parliament. Today,
Croatia had one of the most modern legislations in the world, Pack
said.
Pack stressed that she had followed the development of the
independent Croatian state from the very beginning, adding that
Croatia had earned the right to become a full member of the Council
of Europe.
Present at the meeting were also President Tudjman's Chief-Of-
Staff Ivo Sanader and the head of the state protocol, Ivan Misetic,
the statement said.
