ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - "Comments by Ljubinko Stojanovic, the
head of the 'Serb information centre' in the occupied town of
Vukovar and Milan Djukic, the president of the Serb National Party
(SNS) on last week's incident during Madeleine Albright's visit to
Vukovar were almost identical", says Mate Piskor in his commentary
'We Are Talking About Vukovar Here' in today's issue of 'VECERNJI
LIST'.
Ljubinko Stojanovic said that Albright was to blame herself
for having being stoned. According to Stojanovic, Albright prompted
a spontaneous protest of Serbs, who were embittered by her 'lies
and the fact that she was completely on the Croat side'.
Milan Djukic went even further, Piskor says. He demanded that
the American Ambassador apologize to the Serbs because of her
statement saying that it is no wonder that people who destroyed
Vukovar are not fond of her. 'Djukic holds that such a statement
imposes collective guilt for war on all Serbs', Piskor writes.
'What Djukic asks is that the victim apologize to the
aggressor. This sounds very familiar', Piskor says.
'Why did not Djukic feel the need to apologize to Madeleine
Albright?', the journalist asks and answers: 'Because, although
Djukic does not state it directly, Albright said that Vukovar is
Croatian and that it is going to remain Croatian. And this is a sin
the Serbs are not going to forgive easily'.
