A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON FRIDAY

ZAGREB, March 15 (Hina) - The Zagreb-based daily VJESNIK on Friday runs a commentary under the headline "Agreements on Transport", on the meeting between the Croatian Prime Minister, Zlatko Matesa, and his Bosnian counterpart, Hasan Muratovic, which took place in Sarajevo. The paper reports on the Croatian Parliament Lower House session. It also lists the conditions requested by the European Council Parliament Political Committee, which Croatia has to fulfill in order to be admitted into the European Council. The list was discussed yesterday by the Parliament presidency which agreed that only one condition was not acceptable. That condition is that the presidential veto on the appointment of the Zagreb mayor be removed. Vjesnik also runs a commentary piece by the Informative Catholic Agency (IKA) on an interview that the president of the Croatian Helsinki Committee, Zvonimir Cicak, gave to the Polish daily, Swiat. Under the headline "Cicak's Historic Slander", the IKA described some Cicko's statements on Croatian churches as slander, false truths about half-truths. Under the headline "Army for Peace", Vjesnik runs a commentary piece by its commentator on military affairs on the recent transition of the Croatian Army organization into peace-time structure. On the front page of another Zagreb-based daily, VECERNJI LIST, there is a report of a news conference held in the Croatian Oil Company about economic agreements with Yugoslavia. Under the headline "New Customs Rates from 1 June?" the paper also runs a report on the fifth session of the Croatian Parliament Lower House. (hina) lm jn 151050 MET mar 96
