BUDISA ASKS FOR AUDIT OF CITY ACCOUNTS TO HELP THINGS ALONG

ZAGREB, March 22 (Hina) - The House of Representatives Vice- President, Drazen Budisa, today requested the President of the Croatian Parliament, Vlatko Pavletic, to initiate proceedings for the temporary suspension of his mandate as Member of Parliament, since he was yesterday elected the Mayor of Zagreb. The Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) would appoint a stand-in Monday, Budisa announced. Budisa also wrote to Head State Auditor Sima Krasic, requesting a full audit of Zagreb City and County accounts for 1995. "The audit results would contribute to the orderly devolution of authority and make it easier for the new city council to manage finances in a lawful way," the letter said.
