"Although Interior Minister Avdo Hebib and his deputy Jozo
Leutar agreed that nine Croat policemen from Kiseljak be included
in the Federal police force which was to enter Ilidja, the
agreement was not respected because a high ranking official from
Sarajevo requested that policemen from Kiseljak replace their blue
uniforms with green ones," Ivanko said.
The Bosniac contingent had told the Croat policemen that their
safety could not be guaranteed if they entered Ilidja in their blue
uniforms, Ivanko said.
He added that this incident seemed minor, but could have
serious consequences.
"The future of the Bosnian Federation could become uncertain
because of such incidents. If smaller agreements can be violated
this easily, then greater ones could be called into question,"
Ivanko warned.
