BOSNIAN POLICE TAKE OVER SUBURBS WITHOUT CONSULTATIONS WITH CROAT OFFICERS

OFFICERS SARAJEVO, Feb 29 (Hina) - The Bosnian government police have taken over control of Serb-held Sarajevo suburbs without consultations with Croat officers in the Federation's Interior Ministry, Deputy Federation Interior Minister Jozo Leutar said on Thursday. Police forces that had so far entered the Sarajevo suburbs of Vogosca, Ilijas, Nedjarici and Rajlovac were the forces of the Moslem-dominated Sarajevo police, Leutar said. The Federation Constitution stipulates that police work should be carried out by the cantonal police forces. The Federation Constituent Assembly passed the Internal Affairs Act on January 10 but Leutar said that its implementation was obstructed by the Moslem side. (hina) vm mm 292050 MET feb 96
