Commander of the IFOR artillery units,Brigadier Freddie
Viggers, told reporters that "it is very important for us to remain
in full military preparedness during our stay in the region so
that, in case we should have to use the weapons, we can at every
moment ensure the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement".
"The most important thing to stress is that the practice is
being carried out in the safest possible way. It is important to us
that the people living in the area do not worry about their safety,
so that during future practices, the people know exactly what we
are doing," said Viggers, adding, "we have to be ready to use our
weapons if the peace in the region should again be disturbed".
