Mlakar visited London, where he stayed for several days. Mlakar had
been invited by the British Government, a statement from the
Croatian Government Public Relations Office said. #L#
During the visit, Minister Mlakar met with Roger Freemen, the
minister in charge of public administration. He also met with Sir
Peter King, the author of modernization and privatization of public
administration, as well as with other high government officials.
Mlakar visited the ministries in charge of financing the
public administration and several institutions for education of
civil servants.
The British Government offered help in the modernization of
the Croatian state administration and local self-government.
The visit of the Croatian Administration Minister was
organized with the help of British Ambassador to Croatia, Gavin
Hewitt. It marked the beginning of closer cooperation between the
two countries in the field of state administration, the statement
said.
