During long and cordial talks, Ambassador Simic informed the
JICA head about political and economic circumstances in Croatia and
the region. He stressed that following the establishment of peace
in the region, Croatia had all preconditions for full economic
development, and added that the help of the Japanese agency would
be very appreciated and would have great importance.
Recollecting his visits to the Croatian cities of Dubrovnik
and Opatija, Mr. Fujita showed great personal interest in the
circumstances in Croatia. He emphasized that after the end of the
war in the region the JICA was willing to begin the cooperation.
Ambassador Simic and Mr. Fujita agreed that the agency's
activities could be performed in two fields - in the field of
culture, technology and science, as well as in economy - in order
to revalue Croatian big business potentials, attractive to Japanese
partners.
At the talks it was suggested that this and other Japanese
agencies can send a "fact-finding" mission to Croatia, so that
Japanese experts can be assured on the spot that Croatia has great
economic potentials.
