the eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Syrmium region. #L#
In a letter forwarded to the Security Council, Boutros
Boutros-Ghali asked additional 100 to be deployed in the area
during next six months. Their task would be to oversee and
facilitate the demilitarization in the area. The observers would
define units and equipment which should disarm, and then to monitor
and confirm whether they had done it.
Besides that, they would report on any event which could
influence the keeping of the peace and security in the region, he
added.
The Council was expected to accept the demand by a technical
resolution over next few days.
