ZAGREB, Jan 19 (Hina) - The Friday edition of the Zagreb-based
daily VJESNIK covers the Bulgarian president's two-day visit to
Croatia under the headline "Historical Ties Between Two Nations."
Vjesnik includes extensive coverage of the lower house session
which discussed the draft National Program for Demographic
Development.
The paper devotes its two central pages to the position of the
Croatian community in Sarajevo.
"Serbian Games in Croatian East" is the headline of a Vjesnik
commentary saying in part: "By restoring the ethnic picture which
existed in the area before Serbian aggression, and Croats were in
the majority there, the Croatian Danubian area will successfully
withstand all invasions from the east."
Another Zagreb daily, VECERNJI LIST, publishes findings of the
State Audit Commission on government spending, under the headline
"Millions Flow Out Uncontrolled."
Vecernji List also runs extensive coverage of the Bulgarian
president's visit and the lower house session.
The paper includes an interview with Ivica Vrkic, head of the
government office for restoration of Croatian authority in the
still occupied areas, under the headline "Croats Will Return to
Their Homes."
"Serb Parish Priest Brings 'Wall of Silence' Down" is the
headline of a Vecernji List commentary on the attendance of two
Serb Orthodox priests at a New Year reception given by Croatian
President Tudjman.
