VUKOVAR, Sept 15 (Hina) - Thirty (30) doctors will return to work in
Vukovar hospital next week. Within next month another 15 Vukovar
doctors, exiled during the Serb occupation, will come back and 15
of them will return to work in the health clinic in Beli Manastir,
Croatian Health Minister Andrija Hebrang has said.
He held a news conference in the Vukovar hospital on Monday
after he had visited the hospital and the health clinic in Beli
Manastir.
He told the conference that the ministry would build a block
of 200 flats in Vukovar within the next six months so that health
workers in exile could come back to this eastern Croatian town as
soon as possible.
Out of 475 current workers in the Vukovar hospital, 257 have
fulfilled conditions to stay and work there.
In Beli Manastir, 99 of the current employees have fulfilled
conditions for the work in the health clinic and all of them will be
offered to sign employment contracts. Others can have from six to
twelve months for the confirmation of their diplomas in Croatia and
to decide whether they will come back to health centres and
hospitals in other Croatian areas from which they arrived in eastern
Slavonia and Baranja or will remain in current places of residence.
If reached agreements were respected in future as they had
been so far, the health system of the Croatian Danube river area
would be completely reintegrated not later than 1 November, Hebrang
said.
