ZAGREB, Sept 11 (Hina) - Croatian Interior Minister Ivan Penic on Thursday
received in Zagreb the newly appointed head of the UN High Commission
for Refugees office in Croatia, Robert M. Robinson.
An Interior Ministry statement said Penic and Robinson discussed
numerous issues concerning the return of refugees and displaced persons
to the UN-administered area of eastern Croatia.
Penic said many displaced Croats could not return to their homes,
while Serb refugees returned continually, mostly in unorganized groups.
This brought into question the adherence to the agreement on the return of
displaced persons and refugees to their homes, he said.
The two parties expressed willingness to permanent and direct
cooperation, since these were issues with international implications.
Penic hoped UNHCR would carry out its mission, complying with all
obligations from the agreement on the two-way return of refugees and
displaced persons.
