SARAJEVO, Sept 11 (Hina) - The high international representative for the
implementation of the Dayton peace accord in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos
Westendorp, on Thursday called on all citizens of BH to take part in the
impending municipal election and use the chance they were offered.
In a statement Westendorp's spokesman Duncan Bullivant issued in
Sarajevo, the high representative said the election scheduled for 13 and 14
September would be held regardless of all speculations concerning its
taking place.
According to Westendorp, those who were trying to prevent voters
from casting their ballots were in truth depriving voters of their basic right +
to
elect by themselves people who will lead them towards lasting peace and
progress.
The high representative said the international community would do
everything to enable people in BH to freely express their political +
orientation.
Much effort had already been made in this respect, Westendorp recalled,
including over USD 14 million of expenses, the engagement of 2,500
monitors and a high number of members of the NATO-led Stabilization
Force, who are to provide additional security to all partaking in the election.
