SARAJEVO, Aug 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union Party of
Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BH) on Monday began its pre-election
campaign, three weeks prior to the September municipal election,
the president of the party's election headquarters, Jadranko
Prlic, told reporters. At the election, HDZ BH wishes to prove
its national, European and social commitment, bearing in mind
that a significant part of those rights is achieved at a
municipal level, he said.
According to Prlic, HDZ BH will have candidates in 58
municipalities in the (Croat-Muslim) Federation and ten in
Republika Srpska.
The first big pre-election rallies will be organized on 3
September in Zenica, Bugojno, Bihac and Busovaca, Prlic said,
adding pre-election rallies in Bosanski Brod, Derventa and
Bosanski Samac, municipalities in the Bosnian Serb entity, were
also planned.
HDZ BH president Bozo Rajic said there was a possibility
the party might consider a partial or complete boycott of the
municipal election, if the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe failed to change election rules in Mostar,
under which the town's central zone was established as the town's
seventh municipality.
