DECISION TO BOYCOTT ELE
$ CTION
LONDON, Sept 10 (Hina) - British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook and
German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel strongly condemned a decision of the
Bosnian Croat leadership to boycott the impending Bosnian municipal
election scheduled for 13 and 14 September at a Tuesday meeting in
Hamburg, the British Foreign Office said in a statement on Wednesday,
adding they appealed to Bosnian Croat leaders to alter their decision.
Cook and Kinkel denoted the Bosnian municipal election as a key link
in the peace process. They agreed the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe had worked unbiased and hard in the attempt to
schedule a free and fair election.
Cook and Kinkel called on Bosnian Croat leaders to alter their
decision, pointing out this was the opinion of the whole international
community.
The British Foreign Secretary stressed it would not be possible to
build a democratic, multi-ethnic Bosnia-Herzegovina if one ethnic
community refused to take part in the election.
