ZAGREB, 16 Aug (Hina) - The Croatian President Franjo Tudjman
received a delegation of the U.S. Holy Heart University's Centre
for Christian-Jewish Understanding, including Rabbis Jack
Bemporad, the Centre's director and Joseph Ehrenkranz, the
founder of the Centre, a statement from the President's office
said Saturday. #L#
President Tudjman was informed about the Centre's
activities and the progress that has been made since its
establishment in improving the level of understanding between
Christians and Jews.
President Tudjman said that the Centre's mission was noble
and necessary for better understanding and cooperation between
Jews and Christians. He stressed the contribution of the Jewish
community in Croatia to the Croatian culture and civilisation
development.
The meeting between President Tudjman and the U.S. rabbis
was also attended by Croatian ambassadors Janko Vranyczany
Dobrinovic and Vesna Girardi Jurkic and cultural attache in New
York, Jakov Sedlar, the statement said.
