BRIJUNI, Aug 12 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Tuesday
received the outgoing UN transitional administrator for the Danube region of
eastern Croatia Jacques Klein, his deputy Soren Seraydarian, the assistant
for military issues, Michael Hryschyshyn, and UNTAES' executive secretary,
Jacqueline Knappenberger, the Croatian President's office said in a
statement.
President Tudjman thanked General Klein for all he had done for the
success of the process of peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube
region.
It had not been an easy job, but we could be satisfied that the
process had been brought to an end, President Tudjman said, pointing out it
was now necessary that UNTAES made it possible for legally elected
representatives of local authorities to successfully complete the process,
especially by enabling as many displaced persons as possible to return
already this summer.
Present at today's meeting on the Croatian side were also Premier
Zlatko Matesa, vice premiers Foreign Minister Mate Granic and
Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic, the President's
advisors Ivic Pasalic and Smiljko Sokol, Croatian Ambassador Janko
Dobrinovic-Vranyczany, and the President's deputy chief of staff, the
statement said.
