CROAT, BOSNIAK OFFICIALS AGREE ON RETURN OF BOSNIAKS TO JAJCE MUNICIPA

MUNICIPA $ LITY TRAVNIK, 13 Aug (Hina) - The head of Jajce Municipal Council Ivo Saraf and the president of the local Transitional Municipal Council, Enver Sabic, on Wednesday held a meeting at which they agreed on gradual and organised return of Bosniaks who fled their homes in Jajce municipality in the period between 1 and 3 August. Today's meeting between Saraf and Sabic was chaired by the head of the Mostar office of the U.N. High Commission for Refugees Nell Wright. Attending the meeting were also Central Bosnia Canton Prefect and Deputy Prefect, Ivica Saric and Adnan Terzic respectively, Canton Minister for Refugees, Vikica Mijic, and representatives of the Office of the High Representative, Stabilisation Force (SFOR) and International Police Task Force (IPTF), as well as all members of the working commission for the return of refugees to Central Bosnia Canton. The process of return will develop in stages and be continuous. It would start on Saturday, 16 August, and end on 22 August. Some 300 to 400 members of host families will return to their homes in that period, chairman Wright said after the meeting. The process of return starts in the village of Kruscica on 16 August, and continues on Monday in the village of Lendici, on Tuesday in Lucici and on Wednesday and Thursday in Divicani and Sibenica. The international community would monitor the return and support it logistically. Today's agreement and its implementation would start the process of help to Jajce municipality, which so far had been neglected, Wright said. The head of Jajce Municipal Council Saraf called on the international community to immediately help the destroyed town and its suburbs. More than 400 Croat families and returnees have been living without electricity, health care and other minimum living conditions for two years, Saraf said, adding that the dissatisfaction with such a situation had resulted in incidents which happened between 1 and 3 of August.
