JUSTICE MINISTER SEPAROVIC VISITS VUKOVAR

VUKOVAR, March 20 (Hina) - Croatian Justice Minister Miroslav Separovic and representatives of local judicial bodies in the Croatian Danubian area, on Thursday held talks on the application of the amnesty law. Present at the talks held at the UNTAES headquarters in Vukovar, was also a deputy to the UN Transitional Administrator of the area, Derek Boothby. After the talks, Minister Separovic expressed satisfaction with the meeting and described it as successful. "We talked about the application of the amnesty law," he said to reporters. Each of 150 persons from the war crimes suspects list would be able to learn of charges against them and all of them would have fair trials, Minister Separovic added. "All who live in the area and recognise the Croatian state and law and have not broken (laws), can stay here and live freely," he said. Persons employed in local judicial bodies can continue to work there if they meet principled conditions. A local Serb representative, Vojin Susa, portrayed the meeting with Minister Separovic as successful. Susa added that Serb representatives had come to the meeting with many questions and dilemmas, but, he believed, they were on the right path toward solving problems. He said that "a detailed discussion on the war crimes suspects list" was most important to local Serbs. In connection with employment of local residents in the judicial bodies, Susa voiced satisfaction with "understanding of the Croatian minister," and expressed hope that all of them would be enabled to continue to work as they had worked so far showing their professionalism and objectivity.
