prominent Croatian political emigrant Bruno Busic, arrived at the
Zagreb airport from London aboard a regular Croatia Airlines plane
at 07.30 pm on Monday.
Sindicic was transferred to the Zagreb County Prison. In the next 24
hours, accompanied by his court-appointed attorney Zdenko
Haramija, he should be brought before Zagreb County Court
investigating judge Vera Polak-Presecki.
Sindicic is charged by the Zagreb County state attorney's office
with the October 16, 1978 Busic murder in Paris.
An investigation request was lodged in February 1993. In late June
1996, the Croatian Justice Ministry requested Sindicic's
extradition from Scottish judicial bodies.
Sindicic was sentenced to 15 years ii prison in Perth, Scotland, in
1978, for the attempted murder of another Croatian political
emigrant, Nikola Stedul. He was released in October 1998 following
a condition that he be released after serving two thirds of his
sentence.
If convicted in the Busic murder, Sindicic could be sentenced to up
to 15 years imprisonment.
