ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - In line with an order by the Croatian Justice
Ministry, members of the Croatian Interpol office will on Monday
take over and escort from London to Croatia Vinko Sindicic,
suspected of the murder of Bruno Busic, the Interior Ministry said
this morning.
Following their arrival at Zagreb's Pleso airport, Interpol
officials will hand Sindicic over to the Croatian judicial police.
At the end of June 1996, Croatia requested the authorised Scottish
judicial bodies to extradite Sindicic, under suspicion of having
murdered a prominent Croatian political emigrant Bruno Busic, in
Paris in 1978.
Sindicic was born in 1943 in Stara Baska, on the northern Adriatic
island of Krk.
He was sentenced in 1988 in the Scottish town of Perth to 15 years in
prison for attempted murder of Nikola Stedul, another Croatian
political emigrant.
At the end of last month, it was ten years since Sindicic's
imprisonment and he had the right to be released after having served
two thirds of his sentence.
At a hearing on his extradition to Croatia, held on October 16, 1998
in Edinburgh, Sindicic signed a statement saying he would not
appeal against the decision on extradition.
