SOLIN, Oct 4 (Hina) - Several thousand faithful - including young
people, religious instructors, teachers and representatives of
church movements - gathered this afternoon at Solin's Our Lady of
the Isle shrine waiting for the arrival of Pope John Paul II.
The meeting with the Pontiff in front of the Our Lady of the Isle
Church, the oldest Marian shrine in Croatia, is dedicated to
youth.
Believers awaited the Pope singing contemporary spiritual songs
accompanied by guitar and rock rhythms.
The Pope is ageing, but he understands young people. He can bring
the faith closer to us, help us to grasp the meaning of life, said
Zagreb theology student Danijela.
At about 5.50pm the Pope left the Archbishop's Palace in his
popemobile and travelled through the streets of Split for Solin.
