SPLIT, Oct 4 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman arrived in
the southern port of Split at 10.10am on Sunday to take part in the
Eucharist at Znjan to be celebrated by pope John Paul II.
President Tudjman, Premier Zlatko Matesa, Foreign Minister Mate
Granic, and associates, were welcomed at Split's airport in Resnik
by Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Branimir Luksic, the President's
advisor for interior affairs Ivic Pasalic, Transport Minister
Zeljko Luzavec, head of the Split-Dalmatia County police Marko
Bekavac, and the Mayors of Split, Trogir, Kastele and Solin, Ivan
Skaric, Nenad Belas, Ante Sanader and Zvonimir Hrgovic
respectively.
In the evening President Tudjman will see the Holy Father depart
from the Split airport after his three-day pastoral and state visit
to Croatia.
