BUDAPEST, Oct 1 (Hina) - A Croatian-Hungarian commission for water
management on Thursday met in Budapest to discuss the exploitation
of the Drava River power potential.
The two sides presented different views as regards the use of the
river's power potential.
A large section of the Hungarian state border runs along the Drava.
The two sides also said there were differences in their views as
regards the exploitation of the power potential of the River Mura.
A joint document from the meeting said that experts would continue
working with the aim of finding a resolution which would be
acceptable for both states.
The Croatian-Hungarian commission meets once a year in order to try
and solve problems concerning the exploitation of the rivers Drava,
Mura and the Danube.
According to Zorislav Balic, head of the Croatian delegation,
today's meeting resulted in an agreement on trilateral cooperation
between Hungary, Croatia and Yugoslavia regulating their joint
efforts aimed at ice prevention on the Danube.
The commission for water management will meet again in Zagreb next
