VUKOVAR, Sept 3 (Hina) - Vukovar's housing commission neither
reached, nor is authorised to reach a decree on the eviction of
exiled, displaced persons, and refugees, Vukovar's Mayor's Office
said on Thursday.
Spokesman for the Organisation for Security and Organisation in
Europe (OSCE), Marc Thompson, told reporters on Wednesday that the
housing commission in Vukovar was independently deciding on the
eviction of displaced persons.
Mayor Vladimir Stengl's Office said Thursday the housing
commission managed to resolve, through agreements, a total of 107
commissions since July 22, when owners received the keys of their
houses or flats to which they have tenants rights.
The rest of the cases are being processed in line of the programme
for return and accommodation of displaced persons and refugees, the
Office said.
"We are aware of certain warrants for evictions, issued at the
Vukovar County Court, based on private citizens' complaints.
However, such complaints were submitted before the appointment of
the city housing commission which have nothing to do with them," the
statement said.
