VARAZDIN, Sept 15 (Hina) - A four-day national seminar for the
protection of the Danube River basin started in the northern
Croatian town of Varazdin on Tuesday.
The seminar is a part of the international programme for reducing
the pollution of the Danube River basin.
The organisers of the seminar are the Croatian Water Management,
the Administration for Enviromental Protection, the Global
Environment Fund (GEF) and the U.N. Development Programme (UNDP).
Participating in the seminar are UN experts for water protection
and GEF and UNDP representatives.
The international programme for reducing the pollution of the
Danube River basin includes more than 50 groups from 11 Danube River
basin countries - Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary,
Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia,
the Ukraine and Moldova.
