ZAGREB, Aug 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Ministry of Justice on Tuesday
confirmed that it had been notified by the Croatian Embassy in
Buenos Aires on August 23 that the Argentinean President had signed
a decree on the extradition of Nada Sakic.
The Croatian press today reported that the decree gave Croatia
precedence as extradition country. This means there is no longer a
possibility that Nada Sakic may be extradited to Yugoslavia, which
also requested her extradition.
According to Sakic's attorney Branko Seric, the Zagreb County Court
has not yet notified him that the Argentinean President signed an
extradition decree.
"Yesterday afternoon I (...) spoke to Nada Sakic on the phone and
she had not been notified about that either", said Seric this
morning.
Nada Sakic, currently under house arrest in her Argentinean
residence in Santa Teresita, is accused by the Zagreb County Court
investigating judge of war crimes against civilians.
The wife of recently extradited Dinko Sakic, who is currently being
tried in Zagreb for war crimes committed as commander of a
concentration camp in World War II Croatia, Nada Sakic is suspected
of committing war crimes as an official in another WW2
concentration camp in Croatia.
