ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - The questioning of witnesses in the case of
Dinko Sakic, commander of the World War Two Jasenovac concentration
camp, by the investigative judge of the Zagreb County Court will
commence on 29 June.
"A date of summons has been fixed for five out of eight witnesses,
who know something and outrightly charge Sakic," said Sakic's
court-appointed attorney Ivan Kern on Tuesday. Kern will be present
at each questioning.
After visiting Sakic on Tuesday, Kern said that Sakic is treated
equally at the he Zagreb County Prison as other prisoners.
"My defendant is not receiving any special treatment. He lives like
any other prisoner, according to house rules... It is not true that
he telephoned his wife in Argentina from jail because he still has
not received approval for that," said Kern.
