ZAGREB, June 19 (Hina) - Dinko Sakic, World War II commander of the
Jasenovac concentration camp, did not present his defence at his
first hearing before the investigating judge in Zagreb on Friday.
"Sakic expressed a wish not to present his defence today," said Ivan
Kern, Sakic's court-appointed attorney.
The investigating judge will continue the hearing, Kern said.
The pre-trial investigation, if it remains within the existing
ruling on the pre-trial investigation, could last about two months,
he added.
Today's hearing was also attended by the county state attorney and
his deputy, a court reporter, three security members and the
defender.
Kern talked with Sakic for two hours on Thursday evening.
Sakic is in pretrial detention and was visited by his brother, Kern
said.
