OSCE CALLS ON BOSNIAN CITIZENS TO CHECK VOTER STATUS

( Editorial: --> 3107 ) SARAJEVO, June 23 (Hina) - The spokeswoman of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe mission in Bosnia Tuesday called on all Bosnian citizens who want to participate in the September election to check their voter status, regardless of whether they had already registered for last year's election or are doing so for the first time. Spokeswoman Nicole Szulc recalled the voter status may be checked and registration done until June 27, in registration offices opened by the OSCE. Szulc warned that some organisations in Croatia have published incorrect media reports about who has the right to vote at the Bosnian September election. Szulc said Croatian media carried articles suggesting that everyone who was born in Bosnia has the right to vote at this year's election. The electoral rules are clear and determine that the voter must be not only a Bosnian citizen but must also have resided in the country in 1991, the OSCE spokeswoman said, emphasising that people who at that time resided in Croatia do not have the right to vote in Bosnia.
