PM RECEIVES POLISH FOREIGN MINISTER

( Editorial: --> 8979 ) ZAGREB, 4 June (Hina)- Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa received Polish Foreign Minister Bornislav Geremek in Zagreb on Thursday. The head of the Polish diplomacy will spend Thursday on an official visit to Zagreb and on Saturday and Sunday will attend the ministerial meeting of the Central European Initiative at the Brijuni islands. Croatia and Poland are both committed to further improvement of their good bilateral relations and economic cooperation, Matesa and Geremek concluded. The meeting tackled a series of issues, including mutual aspirations for membership in European and transatlantic integrations, similar problems in restructuring of the economic systems and OSCE's mission in Croatia, a matter of special interest for Poland, as it is the country presiding over that organisation. Minister Geremek welcomed Croatia's contribution to the implementation of the Dayton Accords and the Washington Agreement. Geremek stressed the importance of the return of refugees and displaced persons, as well as of Croatia's relations with Croatia and BH. Prime Minister Matesa emphasised Croatia's determination to meet its obligations and pointed out the importance of a balanced approach by the international community to all the countries that signed the Dayton Accords and the Washington Agreement. Earlier, the Polish Minister met president of the Parliament, Vlatko Pavletic and Foreign Minister Mate Granic. Minister Geremek will be also received by President Tudjman. By the end of the evening, the country presiding the OSCE will stage a joint press briefing with the head of OSCE's mission in Croatia Tim Guldimann. (hina) mro/bag 042023 MET jun 98
