SARAJEVO, June 13 (Hina) - The High Representative for the
implementation of the Dayton peace agreement in Bosnia Saturday
condemned the terrorist attack on two policemen which took place
near Travnik, central Bosnia, Friday.
High Representative Carlos Westendorp demanded that competent
authorities expedite an investigation and arrest the
perpetrators.
The High Representative is greatly concerned about the attack in
which Perica Bilic was killed and his colleague Almir Melic was
wounded, Westendorp's spokesman Simon Haselock told Hina
Saturday.
It is difficult to say what lies behind the attack until the
investigation is completed, Haselock said, but added it is clear
the consequences are unsettling as the incident will obstruct the
refugee return and the whole reconciliation process in central
Bosnia.
Haselock recalled the latest attack had been preceded by numerous
incidents in the area.
Westendorp expects local authorities to immediately arrest the
culprits.
Representatives of the International Police Task Force will take
active part in the investigation.
The attack on the two Travnik policemen was also condemned by the
Croat member in Bosnia's collective Presidency, Kresimir Zubak.
The latest attack was another in a series of terrorist acts against
the return process and co-existence in central Bosnia, a statement
from Zubak's office said.
