SARAJEVO, June 10 (Hina) - Member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina
Presidency Kresimir Zubak and the International High
Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina Carlos Westendorp on
Wednesday evening signed a memorandum on the restructuring of Radio
Television (RTV) BH.
Zubak's office said that the document defines the restructuring
process of RTV BH in a way which will secure the adaptation of that
institution in line with the constitution of BH which is based on
the Dayton Accord.
The memorandum takes into account the constitutional rights of all
peoples who live in BH and especially those rights relating to
ethnic language and culture, said the statement.
Zubak's office stresses that possibilities are being opened up for
the constitutional rights of the constituent peoples and all
citizens in the BH Federation and BH for being informed jointly and
satisfying the cultural, religious, educational, entertainment,
sporting and other needs which can be realised by electronic
media.
Those rights will be realised with respect toward international
standards which apply to the area of public media.
The memorandum ends undefined status which RTV BH had for many
years. During that time it did not have a clear programming or
editing concept nor was its financing method clear.
The statement stresses that the restructuring of RTV BH by no means
brings into question the constitutional rights of the constituent
peoples to establish cantonal or ethnic media.
