BOSNIAN CROAT OFFICIAL MEETS US AMBASSADOR & INTERNATIONAL REP

( Editorial: --> 5642 ) SARAJEVO, 21 May (Hina) - The Croat member of the Bosnia- Herzegovina Presidency, Kresimir Zubak, on Thursday received the United States Ambassador to BH, Richard Kauzlarich, to discuss the current political situation in the country. Zubak's office said the US ambassador informed his host about his views on the situation in the Croat-controlled town of Drvar, which he visited last week. Zubak and Kauzlarich also discussed the course of the recent Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of BH convention. The US ambassador said he hoped that "indecisiveness of the HDZ BH leadership will not be reflected on the functioning of Croat officials in the joint bodies". He added that US President Bill Clinton's administration would keep treating all the parties equally and that they would all be expected to be equally committed to the implementation of the Dayton Accords. Zubak and Kauzlaric talked about the forthcoming visit to BH by the special US envoy Robert Gelbard and a recent letter by President Clinton to members of the BH Presidency. On Thursday Zubak discussed the situation in Muslim-Croat Federation of BH (FBH) with the international representative Christian Schwarz-Schilling as well, who is due to tour the areas of Travnik, Zenica, Zepce, Maglaj, Mostar and Livno soon. Schwarz-Schilling welcomed the nomination of Goran Magas as a Croat representative at the Drvar commission. He also said he expected that the northern Bosanska Posavina Canton would soon adopt new insignia and thus pave the way for the resumption of international aid to that Croat dominated area of BH. Zubak asked Schwarz-Schilling to mediate for amendment of the constitution of the Central Bosnia Canton, so that the town of Travnik could be transformed into a jointly run municipal council, in accordance with decisions taken by the FBH Forum.
