SARAJEVO, June 8 (Hina) - The Croat member in Bosnia's collective
Presidency Kresimir Zubak Monday informed the President of Croatia
and the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Franjo Tudjman that
he would continue with preparations for the establishment of a new
Bosnian HDZ despite an agreement last week in Zagreb that the HDZ BH
would participate in Bosnia's September elections as a uniform
party.
The differences which have arisen within the current HDZ BH are too
large, Zubak said in his Monday letter to Tudjman, adding the
current party led by the new HDZ BH president Ante Jelavic had
failed to abide by an agreement reached in Zagreb on June 5.
Zubak recalled that the Zagreb agreement referring to abstention
from any comments had been broken by HDZ official Ivic Pasalic only
hours after it was reached.
Pasalic had told a press conference that someone from the outside
had been involved in the split within the HDZ BH. The day after,
Jelavic too broke the no comment agreement with an interview to
Split daily Slobodna Dalmacija.
The differences between the two sides within the HDZ BH are
"insurmountable", Zubak said, as the two sides judged "the attitude
towards Bosnia-Herzegovina, the position of the Croat people
within it and the interests for the return of displaced Croats" in
"completely different" ways.
The Croat member in Bosnia's Presidency assessed the Bosnian
Croats' general rights were only being respected in some parts of
the Bosnian territory. This is in truth a deadly blow to the
constitutionality of the Croat people in BH, he said.
