MOSTAR, June 9 (Hina) - Drivers in the Bosnian Herzegovina-Neretva
Canton are to begin picking up new registration plates and drivers'
documents necessary in the country and abroad as of Tuesday.
The documents have been made into unified drivers' licences with
Cyrillic and Latin writing, in line with a decision by the
international community.
Croat officials in areas of the Bosnian Federation with a Croat
majority opposed such documents, arguing that the use of the
Cyrillic alphabet was contrary to the Constitution of the Bosnian
Federation.
Officials of the international community have repeatedly warned
that all vehicles from Bosnia-Herzegovina without the new unified
documents would be prohibited from crossing the state border as of
June 1.
