MOSTAR, June 10 (Hina) - If vehicles with invalid registration
plates and driver's licences from Bosnia-Herzegovina continue
entering Croatia, special talks on introduction of measures will be
held with the Office of the High Representative (OHR), UN
spokeswoman in Mostar Kelly Moore told a press conference on
Wednesday.
Moore did not comment on the nature of the measures.
She expressed regret that the Croatian border police were letting
through vehicles from Bosnia with invalid plates and driver's
licences, adding that the Croatian police were not respecting
commitments from international law.
The International Police Task Force (IPTF) have increased patrols
on border crossings between the Croat-Muslim Federation of BH and
Croatia.
Moore said she learned yesterday from the media that the
Herzegovina-Neretva Canton police had informed drivers that they
could also apply for internationally recognised driver's licences
and registration plates in the canton.
The internationally recognised licences have titles in both the
Latin and Cyrillic scripts while joint registration plates for the
whole country are without national symbols.
If this is true, we welcome the issuing of legal driver's licences,
Moore said.
