ZAGREB, May 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Engine Drivers' Union on
Thursday announced that all railway traffic in the country will be
stalled between 10am and 12pm on Friday, May 23.
This action will not include international passenger trains and
trains used for Croatian army purposes.
Engine drivers will thus stage a protest for the Administration not
yet having submitted to them a suggestion of the salary system what,
they say, it should have done by May 15.
The Croatian Railways (HZ) Administration reacted to the announced
protest with a statement in which it claims it had fulfilled its
commitment, because it had come up with a draft "modified system of
evaluation of work", that is, a new salary system.
On May 15, the HZ Administration forwarded to the Engine Drivers'
Union and other HZ unions an invitation to a meeting on May 26, at
which it was to present its suggestion, but the Engine Drivers'
Union insists that the whole issue should have been completed by May
15.
