VUKOVAR, Feb 12 (Hina)- Today in Vukovar the associations of
victims of the patriotic war and the mayor of Vukovar Vladimir
Stengl discussed the forthcoming exhumation at the new Vukovar
cemetery and a location where the exhumed bodies could be buried.
The associations' representatives refused mayor's proposal that
the bodies be buried again at the new cemetery. Instead, they
suggested that a veterans' cemetery be built vis a vis the new
cemetery, which would host not only the exhumed bodies, but also
handicapped veterans of the homeland war and civilian victims of
the war.
The representatives asked for the postponement of the exhumation,
until all the preparations for the construction of a new cemetery
have been finished.
The associations represented at the meeting were The Mothers of
Vukovar, The Association of the Former Prisoners of the Serb
Concentration Camps, The Association of Croat Defenders Vukovar
91, The Association of the Widows of the Homeland War from Vukovar
and Vukovar branch of the Croatian Association of Disabled
Veterans.
