VUKOVAR, Feb 6 (Hina) - Croatian director Branko Schmidt's "Bozic u
Becu" ("Christmas in Vienna") had its premiere showing in Vukovar
on Friday.
Vukovar Mayor Vladimir Stengl greeted guests and members of the
film's crew gathered in the cinema building of the Vukovar suburb of
Borovo.
Following the showing of the film, which was interrupted for a time
due to power failure, the town administration, which organised the
premiere, presented film team members with photo-monographs of
Vukovar.
During the presentation, Schmidt told the gathering about the
importance and symbolism of the Vukovar showing of his film and his
satisfaction with the fact that as well as everything else, culture
was returning to the destroyed town.
"Vukovar has returned home," the director concluded, alluding to
the title of his previous film "Vukovar se vraca kuci" ("Vukovar Is
Returning Home").
Also present at the premiere were representatives of national,
county and local authorities, Vukovar defenders, members of the
Croatian Army and Interior Ministry in civilian uniforms, and many
members of associations of Homeland War victims.
