VUKOVAR, 6 Feb (Hina) - The Association of Croatian Defenders of
Vukovar 91 (UHBV 91) has proposed that the Government form a
commission for establishing war crimes committed in the Vukovar
area.
UHBV members, who were in Vukovar in 1991 and remained in the town
until its occupation, said that during their visits to Vukovar they
were encountering persons who had participated in the aggression on
Vukovar and who should be indicted for war crimes.
"They include a large number of those who committed the gravest
crime against humanity - the war crime, and according to data
available to us, they are not being prosecuted," UHBV 91 said in its
letter to the Justice Ministry.
Expressing dissatisfaction with "a very small number" of persons
who have been charged with war crimes committed in the area of
Vukovar, UHBV 91 claims that a commission for establishing war
crimes should be formed urgently.
