ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Christian Democratic Union (HKDU), Marko Veselica, on Thursday confirmed his candidacy for presidential elections. Veselica said he advocated a thorough reduction of presidential
powers and the strengthening of the role of parliament. He stressed the HKDU was against the "liberal left-wing position" which it considered an exponent of international factors, and against the crime, tycoons and mob of one part of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union. Veselica expects to win between 15 and 20 percent of the vote in the first electoral round. He added his true intent was not victory at presidential elections, but to outline the concept behind his 55-year-old battle against communism. He is working on a biography on the subject, and is currently collecting signatures for presidential candidature. He is sure he will collect enough.(hina) ha
