ZAGREB ZAGREB, Dec 10 (Hina) - Several dozen members of the women's section of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) on Friday staged a protest walk in downtown Zagreb on the occasion of Human Rights Day.
Bearing banners, bunting, and whistles, the protesters demonstrated and distributed leaflets, wearing white gloves which symbolise "clean hands for square accounts. "We want to draw the Croatian public's attention to the fact that women, though making 52 percent of the population, continue to be discriminated in their right to work and in labour and social legislation," said Renata Buljan, the president of the women's section of the SSSH. She added the section would continue to point out through various activities that such legislation must be changed.(hina) ha mm
